The Gymnasium Library in Požega is one of the oldest libraries in Slavonia and Baranja, and it is considered to be among the oldest in the Republic of Croatia.

The Gymnasium Library in Požega was founded and developed as the Teachers' library which was cared for by head-masters (rectors) at the times when school was ruled by church authorities: Jesuits, Paulist Fathers and Franciscans.
The Teachers' library stock of the Gymnasium in Požega has been proclaimed the movable monument of culture having the national significance of monument category B.
The Pupils' library stock contains about 15000 books, consisting mostly of required reading materials.
In the Teachers' library there are about 9931 books, and they are all listed and entered into a local catalogue, while about 5000 books and magazines are not professionally analyzed. Recently, 2700 of non analyzed books of professional and required reading materials in Latin, Greek, German and French language have been entered into inventory.
There are some books which represent a special value, and these are two books from the 16th century, five from the 17th and over 30 books from the 18th century. Other books are mostly from the 19th and the 20th century.
